Let the Games begin
The Olympics are coming. If you have tickets or not, don't miss out on the Paris energy this summer!
Kick off the events by watching the Olympic torch relay, which will go through Paris on the 14-15 July.
There are quite a few events that are FREE to watch, such as the triathlon, Olympic marathon & all cycling events. The grand opening ceremony will take place on the river Seine, and is also free to attend.
There are also 25 fan zones across the city, where huge TV screens show the games and have food & drink stands. Our recommendation is the Champions Park at Trocadero and Club France in Parc de la Villette.

Travelling by Eurostar: FAQs
When do I have to reserve a seat?
If you're travelling using a Eurail, InterRail or Europe train pass, you are required to reserve your seat on the Eurostar.
The Eurostar get's booked up very quickly, especially in the busy summer months, so we would always recommend booking ahead of time.
Show me the money!
If you're caught short with where to exchange dollars (or Euros), don't worry. Naturally, there will be foreign currency cash machines at the Airport.
If not, we recommend Travelex and Eurochange, which have many locations across the UK.
You can also exchange currency at the Global Exchange bureau in the Eurostar terminal.
Where do I have to pay tourist tax?
There's been a lot of news around tourist tax recently, so here's the complete guide for Eurostar destinations.
Please note that the amount of tax you pay is dependent on your standard of accommodation, and city of stay.
France
- Ranges between €0.20 and €4 per person, per night.
- Paris charges an extra 10%, meaning you'll pay between €0.22 and €4.40 per person, per night.
Belgium
- Antwerp (€2.39), Bruges (€2), Ghent (€2.50) per person, per night.
- In Brussel, the cost is based on the number of rooms in your hotel, so we advise to contact your accommodation before your stay.
Germany
- Ranges between €0.50 and €5 per night, or 5% of the room cost, dependent on the location and standard of accommodation.
Netherlands
- Amsterdam has a 5.5% city tax based on the room cost.
Getting around London
You can pay for any Bus, Tube or Overground train using your contactless card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Otherwise, local convenience stores sell oyster cards, that you can top up there or at any Tube or Overground station. Cash or coins are not accepted on any service.
Citymapper (app) may be your best friend for your time in London, it has real-time updates of transport and directions.
Otherwise, the usual Google or Apple maps should do the trick too.
There are often standalone maps in central locations, that can be really useful for the local area when your phone can't!
Of course you can always ask our helpful Staff to help you with directions.
