Travelling from the US: FAQs
Heathrow
Heathrow is direct on the London Underground (We call it the tube) Elizabeth Line (the purple one). This takes around 35 mins door to door.
Paddington Station is only a 5 minute walk from Point A - 41 Praed Street. The station also has several links into central London that run very regularly.
Gatwick
The Gatwick Thameslink makes this one a treat. A highspeed train that goes all the way to St Pancras International. Although the underground stop is called King's Cross St. Pancras, they are 2 separate stations, which are right next door to each other.
If you're coming off at St. Pancras International on the Thameslink, Point A Kings Cross in just a 10 minute walk away.
If you need to carry lots of luggage, there are always Taxis outside of the station.
Stansted
If you are coming from Stansted, the Stansted express can take you directly to Liverpool Street Station, which is right around the corner from Point A Liverpool Street.
Come out of the Bishopsgate exit to make things slightly easier - it's a big station with many ways to come in and out!
Dublin Airport
You can take the 700 bus from right outside the Airport that goes a 7 minute walk away from Point A Dublin.
Or, there are Dublin Express trains that run every 30 minutes that arrive at Eden Quay O'Connell Street, just a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Edinburgh Airport
Take the Airport Express Tram at Stop E, just outside and ride 3 stops to Haymarket Station. This will take you to an 8 minute walk from Point A Edinburgh.
This service runs everyday until 10.45pm.
Glasgow Airport
The Number 500 Airport Express bus takes you to Waterloo Lane, which is only about a 6 minute walk from Point A Glasgow.
Getting around London
You can pay for any Bus, Tube or Overground train using your contactless card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Otherwise, local convenience stores sell oyster cards, that you can top up there or at any Tube or Overground station. Cash or coins are not accepted on any service.
Citymapper (app) may be your best friend for your time in London, it has real-time updates of transport and directions.
Otherwise, the usual Google or Apple maps should do the trick too.
There are often standalone maps in central locations, that can be really useful for the local area when your phone can't!
Of course you can always ask our helpful Staff to help you with directions.
Getting around Dublin
Citymapper (app), Google maps or Apple maps will give you all the information you need when it comes to live transport updates.
Our recommendation is to buy a Leap visitor card, valid on all transport services, which can be purchased at one of the vendors here. It is also always 30% cheaper with a Leap card.
Bus
There are a number of bus companies that operate across Dublin in different areas - so don't worry when you see many different names. What's important is the letter/number! Make sure you get on at the right stop, so you don't go in the wrong direction as there are many duplicate busses.
Individual tickets can be bought in cash by exact fare on the bus - no change will be given.
Tram
You can buy tickets from any ticket machine by a tram stop. Cash or card accepted.
Train
You can buy tickets from any ticket machine, or booth, at a train station. Cash or card accepted.
Getting around Edinburgh
It's likely that you won't need to take many busses or Trams during your stay, as Point A Edinburgh is right near the action.
Buses run 24 hours a day, and a ticket can be bought on the bus for exact fare - no change will be given!
The Tram mainly connects the airport with central Edinburgh, and runs every 8-10 minutes until 10.45pm.
Getting around Glasgow
The subway is one of the easiest ways to get around the city centre, west end and southside of Glasgow. Running every 4 minutes at peak times, it takes just 24 minutes to complete a circuit of the 15 stations.
First Bus Glasgow operates all over Glasgow. The First Bus app allows you to buy and store tickets on your phone, plan your journey & track your bus.
Show me the money!
If you're caught short with where to exchange dollars (or Euros), don't worry. Naturally, there will be foreign currency cash machines at the Airport.
If not, we recommend Travelex and Eurochange, which have many locations across the UK.
